Terms of Service

Effective November 2, 2026 · Private Paws · Cherry Hill & South Jersey

This agreement is between Private Paws (“we,” “us”) and the pet owner (“you”). By booking a service with Private Paws, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
  1. Services. We provide in-home dog boarding, in-home overnight care, dog walking, and drop-in visits as booked, caring for one family’s dog(s) at a time.
  2. Fees & payment. A 50% deposit reserves your dates. The remaining balance is due on pick-up day, before pick-up. We accept Venmo, Zelle, cash, and credit card (card payments include a 3% processing fee). Overnight stays over major holidays are billed at +50% per night. Late pick-ups are billed at $10/hour up to 8 hours, then a full day’s rate.
  3. Cancellations & changes. Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule; a little extra notice is appreciated around holidays. For cancellations made with less notice, the deposit may be applied to a future booking at our discretion.
  4. Abandoned dogs. If your dog is not picked up within three (3) days of the scheduled pick-up and we cannot reach you despite reasonable efforts, the dog may be considered abandoned. You remain responsible for all boarding fees that continue to accrue, and after seven (7) days we may place the dog with a licensed shelter or animal control in accordance with New Jersey law, at your expense.
  5. Vaccinations. Your dog must be current on rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. We may request proof before the first stay.
  6. Parasite prevention & contagious illness. Your dog should be free of fleas, ticks, and worms and current on flea and tick prevention. If your dog arrives with fleas, ticks, or signs of a contagious illness, we may arrange treatment at your expense or decline the stay to protect other pets and our home.
  7. Health & behavior. You confirm your dog is in good health and has no history of biting or aggression; for everyone’s safety, we are unable to care for dogs with such a history. Please disclose any medical, behavioral, or dietary needs in advance.
  8. Spaying, neutering & females in heat. Please let us know if your dog is not spayed or neutered. For everyone’s comfort and safety, we are unable to care for females in heat.
  9. Medication. If your dog needs medication, please provide it with clear written instructions. We will administer routine medications as directed, but we are not veterinarians and are not liable for reactions or outcomes when medications are given as instructed.
  10. Right to refuse or end service. We may decline, postpone, or end a service if a dog shows aggression, appears ill or contagious, or if information about the dog was not accurately disclosed. If we end a stay early for these reasons, you agree to arrange prompt pick-up, and any refund is at our discretion.
  11. Emergency & veterinary care. If your dog becomes ill or injured, we will make every reasonable effort to reach you and your emergency contact. If we cannot reach you and care is needed, you authorize us to approve veterinary treatment at your expense, up to $1,000 per incident, and to seek further care as needed for your dog’s safety while we continue trying to reach you. You agree to reimburse reasonable costs we advance on your dog’s behalf.
  12. Assumption of risk & liability. Even with the best care, pets can become ill, injured, or anxious. You agree that Private Paws is not liable for illness, injury, loss, or escape that occurs without our negligence, and you accept the normal risks of boarding and care.
  13. Owner responsibility & indemnification. You are responsible for your dog’s behavior. Under New Jersey law, a dog owner is liable for injuries their dog causes. You agree to reimburse us for any injury your dog causes to people or other animals and any damage to property, and to hold Private Paws harmless from related claims, except to the extent caused by our own negligence.
  14. Limitation of liability. Except for harm caused by our own negligence or misconduct, our total liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount you paid for the service involved, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
  15. Photo & media release. Unless you opt out in writing, you give Private Paws permission to take and share photos of your dog in Pupdates, on social media, and on our website.
  16. Home access (in-home care). For in-home services, you grant access to your home for the dates booked and confirm the space is safe for your dog and our caregiver. Keys or access codes are kept secure and used only for the booked service.
  17. Belongings. Please label anything you’d like returned. We are not responsible for normal wear, loss, or damage to toys, bedding, or equipment.
  18. Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, and any dispute will be handled in the state courts located in Camden County, New Jersey.
  19. Severability & entire agreement. If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. This is the entire agreement between us regarding our services, and any changes must be made in writing.
  20. Agreement. By booking and checking “I agree to the Terms of Service” in our booking app, you confirm you have read and accept these terms.
